  Our Staff

HelperKaren Kuebler, BSN, RN joined Aurora House when the doors opened in September, 2010.  After serving on staff for nearly 2 years, she was promoted to the role of Executive Director in July 2012.  Already an experienced leader, she is committed to a peaceful environment where our residents and their families experience what it means to be cared for as a whole person – body, mind, social person, and spirit.  Karen is a graduate of Monroe Community College and worked at Rochester General Hospital on a medical / hospice care unit.  During nursing school, she worked at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center where she was introduced to hospice and palliative care and decided to enter her nursing career with a focus on advocating for the needs of hospice patients and their families. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the RN to BSN program at The College at Brockport and had an article published in Nursing 2014 regarding the use of morphine in end of life care.

Marcia Chiappone has been an important part of the team at Aurora House.  She currently works for Visiting Nurse Service (VNS)  and has been the nurse assigned to VNS residents in our home since our doors opened in 2010.  In 2012, she accepted a staff position with us and typically works weekends.

Cindy Wilson joined Aurora House as a volunteer in May of 2012.   Because she enjoyed her volunteer experiences she agreed to join the  staff at Aurora House in August 2014 .  Cindy currently works full time at Rochester Regional Health System utilizing both her computer science and nursing degrees.

Peggy Hurst joined our per diem team in February, 2018 after being a volunteer with us for over 7 years..  She is retired from Unity Hospital after working many years in Critical Care/ ICU.  Peggy enjoys her interactions with our residents and uses her time with our volunteers to provide guidance and support.

Aurora House is proud to offer a welcoming learning environment for students from Roberts Wesleyan College, St. John Fisher, Monroe Community College, Genesee Community College, The Harley School, and many other local High Schools.  Individuals with life challenges are welcome, working on projects that fit their skill set and comfort level.
